My two best friends and I had this conversation the other day, and this is what we came up with:
When a guy is not living up to his masculine expectations, people may call him a pansy. This is probably because pansies are delicate feminine flowers.
However, pansies are incredibly resilient flowers. They last for months and even survive freezes and snowfall.
